Gooooood morning! What a wonderful weekend we have had. The weather has been delightful and warm and we have had a lot of fun. On Saturday we went celebrated a little princess who also turned one. She is 3 weeks younger than Mia. It was great to hang out with other moms and watch how nicely our kids played together. The food was really tasty and I can't remember when I last ate so delicious ice-cream cake. Then on Sunday it was time to celebrate Mias birthday fir the second time, but this time with our Swedish family and friends. Many of whom we had invited were either ill or couldn't come, but that was okey because the house was full of people anyways (so you can imagine how many people We had invited ha ha).We ate some simple snacks and lots of cake and buns and such. I was so happy to hear that everybody thought that the chocolate fudge cake that I had made could have been served at any wedding or birthday because it both looked and tasted nice. Thank you, you kind people! Anyways, we had really good time catching up with old friends and yet again I must say that all the kids played so well together and all the little babies were content and didn't complain at all. So even if the house was full of both kids and grown-ups I don't think that anyone left with an headache ( or an empty stomach). Have a great week everyone and blogg to you soon!
The filling: whipped cream, sour cream, light brown muscavado sugar, fresh blueberries, strawberries and rasberries.... Mmmm!
The home made chocolate icing covered the whole cake.
This is the first time I tried applaying sugarpaste lock over a cake. It was so much easier than i
Imagined!
All done and ready to be served!
Mias birthday party outfit that she got from my sister-in-laws good friend Mirta. She looked really cute in it and it's Ralph Lauren ( ehemm, this kid has more fancy brand names in her closet than I do and she is only one! ;)).
Mia decided to wake up the same time as me - 05.15 She cried untill she got her boobie, but refused to fall a sleep again like she usually does. When I tried leaving the bedroom, she got really upset and only calmed down when I picked her up. At this point I didn't have much time left, but she got to hang with me untill it was time for me to leave the house for work. Luckily she was much happier girl by then and stayed with daddy without complaining. She really is mommys little girl right now. If she could, she would follow me everywhere... I don't mind because I know that this won't always be like that. Have a great day!
My little busy bee
Tack söta A!
Me and Mia are very slowly recovering from our cold. We hope to be feeling well by Sunday because we will be celebrating Mias birthday with our Swedish family and friends. When we celebrated Mia with my Estonian friends, I made salmon soup and bor?. I baked minipizzas and vanilla rolls and I baked two chocolate cakes. Oh and of course potatochips and grapes and such were also served. As usually I had made way too much food. I think I ate bor? like 3-4 days in a row after the party ha ha. R. prefered the salmon soup. Oh well, thats me.Then again i'd rather cook too much than too little. It's good to be on the safe side ;). This time around we will be serving pastasallad and different cakes. It will be tricky though because we will be having guests with different foodallergies and diets. So that you would get an idea: most of the guests are vegetarians, one is glutenintolerant, three don't eat any milkproducts, one doesn't eat sugar and two are Weight Watchers. Luckily I am getting some help from my kind mother-in-law. She has made some glutenfree nutcakes and has baked normal, milkfree ang glutenfree sweet rolls. I am baking one " normal" chocolate cake, one sugar and milkfree carrotcake and one gluten and milkfree polentacake with coconutwhip. For preventing us from getting a sugar rush only we will be also having a pastasallad with tofu.... Our glutenintolerant friend is having his made with glutenfree pasta...I hope I haven't missed more allergies that our guests might have ;). It's going to be fun!
Mias first Birthday Cake. Author:Mommy
....and everybody liked it :)
Last Easter I was a big as a Hippo and waited for Mia to come out. I know I say this all the time, but the time really flies brutally fast. This Easter I am spending mostly at work. I should stay at home really because both me and Mia have managed to catch a cold...again. I have a sore throat, runny nose and I cough a bit, but no fever. Mia has had a very runny nose, a fever, a little cough as well and zero appetite. Luckily she drinks well. The weird part is that she was almost well again but got worse this morning. Just yesterday evening I put " Mias cold kit" away and now I had to take it out again. Oh well, there is not much to do than to try to hold on and keep a positive mindset- soon we are well again and everything will go back to normal...
My poor baby
It's time to go to work again after 3 days at home with M. I haven't gotten much sleep cause M. has been sleeping even worse now that she has been ill. Her nose is running as if someone left the water tap open. Poor thing. Luckily the fever seems to be gone. Both yesterday and the day before I have been doing some "spring cleaning" in our garden. It's pretty big and it has really been needing some love since we moved in last year.I have been too tired to do anything in the garden untill now. The reason why I finally surrendered was because I just couldn't keep looking at those dead leaves and small branches lying everywhere day in and day out. Plus I wanted to have a prettier sight when I am looking out from the window. There is still A LOT to do, but even that little that I have managed to sort out so far has made a big difference. I feel very motivated to continue. The biggest challenge now is to get rid of all the rubbish. I could burn the leavs and branches like most houseowners too, but I am not too crazy about the idea having a big fire in our backyard...anyways, even though I am a tired mommy, I actually enjoyed being outside and getting my hands and knees dirty. And the smell of wet earth - wow- I had forgotten how amazing it smells... Funny that one forgets things like that... Have a great day and Happy Easter!
